Canterbury’s “Big Mountain” - Mount Hutt

Mount Hutt is a ski resort located near Methven in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. Driving there from Christchurch takes about 1.5 hours. However if you are planning to drive all the way up to Mount Hutt, make sure you put on snow chains on your tyres. If you prefer not to drive, you can also take a shuttle bus up from Methven. One thing good about Mount Hutt is that they have terrains suitable for all ability levels, even for first timers like myself. You can also book lessons with qualified instructors. I tried out the snowboarding beginner’s lesson and had a great time! The instructor was really friendly, knowledgable and entertaining.
