Phra Phutthachai Temple

Wat Phra Phutthachai is located in Mueang Saraburi District, Saraburi Province. It is located inside a two-tiered pavilion on a mountain shoulder. It is the place where Phra Phutthachai (the shadow of the Buddha) is enshrined. It is a faint shadow that is an imprint on the cliff at the foot of the mountain. The area of ​​Wat Phra Phutthachai is similar to a standing Buddha statue. It is assumed that it was discovered during the reign of King Songtham of Ayutthaya. The brief legend of Phra Phutthachai: The Buddha came to Khao Khataka (Khao Phra Phutthachai) to teach the hunter Khataka until he attained enlightenment. When the Buddha returned, Phra Khataka asked for a memorial object to pay homage to. The Buddha performed a miracle by letting his shadow stick to the stone at the base of Khao Phra Phutthachai. Nearby is a pavilion enshrining the footprint of the Buddha on the right. This pavilion was built during the reign of King Sua and there is a Bodhi tree that was brought from Sri Lanka.
