Phra Prang Muni Temple

#Places to visit near Bangkok Wat Phra Prang Muni is believed to have been built in the late Ayutthaya period. The reason why it was named Wat Phra Prang Muni is probably because of the large golden prang that stands out majestically from afar. However, in addition to the large prang, there are other interesting things in the temple worth visiting if you have the chance, including: Wihan Luang Pho Yen, an ancient stucco Buddha statue, Luang Pho Khao and Luang Pho Nak. There is a story that a wandering monk came to set up a meditation hut in the temple and asked for holy water from Luang Pho Yen, who at that time only had a head. He took this water to cure various diseases for the villagers. Therefore, the villagers who were devoted to him called him Luang Pho Yen, which means peace and happiness. The principal Buddha image enshrined in the golden ordination hall is called Phra Phu Khao Thong. Luang Pho Yai Chai Mongkhon or Phra Phutthanimit Phichitmar Maha Chakkraphat is enshrined in the sermon hall, a sacred well and a replica of the Nari Phon tree, which is near the shrine of Mae Takhian Thong. Behind the temple is also a Bodhi tree. At the base of the tree is a Buddha statue. The beautiful mural paintings inside the church tell stories about hell, heaven, the life story of the Buddha and the Jataka tales.
