Manophirom Temple

It is an old temple built by architects from Vientiane. Later, a fire damaged the temple and it was renovated and completed in 1911. The temple has interesting architecture such as the chapel, the ordination hall, and the beautiful old staircase of the chapel. The ordination hall is a combination of Lao and Vietnamese art. The handrail of the chapel is decorated with stucco sculptures of mixed animals that look like lions and nagas. There is also a pair of small lion sculptures at the front, which is Vietnamese art. The entrance of the chapel is made of stucco and has a layered arch, which is a construction of the entrance according to the castle concept, indicating the high status of the building that enshrines the Buddha image. The carved wooden panels covering the front of the wing of the chapel are carved with four-petal flower patterns and woven patterns, which are patterns that are commonly found in Lao art of the Vientiane school. The pillars of the chapel are large square brick and mortar pillars. The lotus capitals are painted stucco works, which are Vietnamese art.
