Late April Sakura Guide at Ikagu Shrine 🌸✨

#cherryblossom25 Ikagu Shrine, located at 688 Oto, Kinomoto-cho, Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, is a historic Myojin Taisha (Grand Shrine) in the Kohoku region. Legend has it that the shrine was founded over 1,300 years ago, before the 10th year of Emperor Tenmu's reign, and it enshrines Ikatsuchinomikoto, the deity of bountiful harvests. Why Visit in Late April? Every year in late April, around 70 yaezakura (double-flowered cherry trees) bloom along the shrine's approach, creating a breathtaking tunnel of pink blossoms. The interplay of sunlight during the day and illuminated petals at night makes it an unforgettable experience. Best Time to Visit Blooming Period: Mid-April to early May. (The yaezakura bloom about two weeks later than the popular Somei Yoshino variety.) Peak Bloom: Late April is when the cherry blossoms are at their fullest and most vibrant. Nighttime Sakura Illumination: From April 20th to the end of April, the pathway will be lit up every evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, adding a magical, dreamlike glow to the sakura tunnel. #travel
