What is special about Chumphon Gate is that above the gate, there is a small wooden house in the Thai style with a tiled roof and decorated with gable and garlands, called the “Hor Rap”, used for commanding the battle. The walls on both sides of the upper part are shaped like bai sema, with a cross-shaped hole under the bai sema to spy on enemies. Grandparents said that if anyone passes through this gate, they will be safe and return to Korat again. This belief has influenced the current belief that if anyone passes through the Chumphon Gate Arch, You will be able to live in Korat.
