Nakhon Si Thammarat City Pillar Shrine

It is the sacred object of Nakhon Si Thammarat and is one of the most sacred city pillar shrines in Thailand. The wood used to make the city pillar here is “Takian Thong” which grows on the top of Khao Luang. The eye of the 8-faced Brahma is made from “Mai Kham Fa” to create sacred power. The Mai Kham Fa is special compared to other trees because no matter where it grows, no matter how deep in the forest or how many large trees cover it, the Mai Kham Fa will not be in the shade of any tree or will always be “above” other trees. In addition, during the construction of the city pillar here, there are also important ceremonies such as burning the city’s destiny, casting the main stone spell, awakening the giant of Wat Phra Borommathat, and hammering the heart of the ocean.
