|Nanjing Jumeirah Hotel originated from Dubai Zhuoyao Jinling. The architecture of Nanjing Jumeirah Hotel was designed by ZAHA HADID and the interior design was by Lin Fengnian LTW. What impressed me most during this stay was the hotel's lobby design. An international design company knew how to respect the geographical context and incorporated Nanjing's well-known local historical story: the Legend of Xuanwu Lake into the design concept. The legend of the Black Dragon of Xuanwu Lake: "It is said that during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Southern Song Dynasty, there was a severe drought and the emperor ordered people to offer jade to Xuanwu Lake to pray for rain. As soon as the precious jade was thrown in, a black dragon suddenly jumped out of the lake, swallowed the jade and ascended to heaven. Then it spit out the beautiful jade and smashed it into the center of the lake. A big hole was smashed open in Xuanwu Lake and water gushed out. In an instant, white waves surged. Jinling, which had been dry for several months, has had good weather since then. Seeing this, Emperor Wen of the Song Dynasty called Xuanwu Lake the Black Dragon Lake." Even the details like the ripple carpet in the lobby, the fiberglass sculptures that look like surging waves, the huge decorative painting with the intention of a black dragon hitting the waves, and the long sofa that looks like a hole gushing out of the black dragon's jade are unique, trigger associations, and carry their own stories. The lobby design of LTW inherits the historical context of Nanjing, but the overall shape is very futuristic, which complements the architectural design of the female devil ZAHA. It's wonderful!
