The Lalu Nanjing in the early morning is a geometric poem woven with light and shadow. The horizontally extending minimalist architecture and vertically cut glass curtain walls outline cool lines in the morning light. Designer Soo K. Chan quietly sews together nature and humanity with a "three-entry" spatial narrative—from the bamboo-shadowed entrance walkway to the 25-meter-high "glass box" lobby, and then to the viewing corridor facing the Yangtze River. Every step seems to step into a flowing Song painting. In the afternoon, the clear sound of celadon ocarina music fills the ears. This "water cup music" originated in the Six Dynasties and has been replicated by The Lalu Nanjing as a living memory of intangible cultural heritage. The porcelain cups are tapped lightly, and the timbre is as ethereal as raindrops falling on the river, intertwined with the rustling of the bamboo forest outside the window, as if echoing the Zen of Du Mu's "Four Hundred and Eighty Temples of the Southern Dynasties." As dusk falls, the lights of the Shui Sha Lian Chinese Restaurant light up one after another. The elegance of Huaiyang cuisine collides with the smoky flavors of Taiwanese braised pork rice. The dense taro puree crispy duck and the mellow Shaoxing Dongpo pork, accompanied by the sparkling waves of the Jiajiang River outside the window, make both the taste and the vision a feast. The ethereal sculptures displayed in the long corridor seem to be silhouettes from old dreams of the Republic of China, weaving a cultural montage together with the Zijin Mountain screen and celadon ocarina music. At night, candlelight sways in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of the river-view room, and the Yangtze River outside the window is like a black satin spreading to the sky. The "six senses of beauty" of The Lalu Nanjing finally ends with "heartbeat"—the light and shadow here are a translation of history, the food is a dialogue of culture, and every stop is a whisper across thousands of years with the city of Jinling.
