Mona Rudao Memorial Park

Address: No. 4, Renhe Road, Renai Township, Nantou County Introduction: Mona Rudao was an aboriginal of the Wushe Atayal tribe. Dissatisfied with Japan's plundering of aboriginal resources and implementation of a high-pressure colonial policy, in 1930, when Wushe Public School held a sports meeting, he raided a total of 134 Japanese officials who came to watch the ceremony. Later, the Japanese dispatched troops from other areas, and Mona Rudao led 900 indigenous people to retreat to Mahpo. Relying on the advantage of being familiar with the terrain, Mona Rudao continued to fight. The Japanese army began to release poison gas bombs. The indigenous army ran out of ammunition and support and was unable to resist. They committed suicide one after another and refused to surrender. This is the Wushe Incident known internationally. In the Wushe Incident Memorial Park, there is a statue of Mona Rudao with a righteous spirit, as well as statues simulating the situation at that time. The remains of Mona Rudao are also buried here for future generations to pay tribute to this great Aboriginal anti-Japanese hero.
