Yehliu Geopark: A Must-Visit Cultural Heritage Site!

Yehliu Geopark, located in Wanli District of New Taipei City, Taiwan, is a stunning natural attraction. It features unique rock formations sculpted by the sea breeze and waves over countless years, creating a truly distinctive landscape. Since it’s quite far from Ximen, you’ll need to travel for over an hour by car or public transportation. I opted for a bus tour costing around 10,000 KRW, which allowed me to visit Yehliu, Shifen, Jinguashi, and Jiufen all in one day. The first stop was Yehliu Geopark. The entrance fee is surprisingly affordable at just 120 TWD. Some travel apps offer discounts, so booking in advance might be a good idea. The park operates daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, but it may close due to bad weather or natural disasters like typhoons. It’s best to check the weather before your visit. If you feel that the iconic 'Queen’s Head' rock has gotten smaller compared to your previous visit, you’re probably right. The rock is gradually eroding due to wind and rain, and it’s said that it might collapse someday. This is why many visitors make sure to take photos of this famous landmark. According to the guide, spotting shapes like chicken-shaped rocks or mushroom-shaped rocks can make the visit even more enjoyable. After all, the shape is whatever you imagine it to be, right? 😊 Even if you don’t focus on the Queen’s Head, there are plenty of other fascinating rock formations to admire, such as 'Sea Candles,' 'Mushroom Rocks,' and 'Sand Glass Rock.' Don’t miss out on exploring these natural sculptures. Yehliu Geopark is a place where you can marvel at nature’s masterpieces up close. Once you visit, you’ll definitely want to return.
