🏯 Scenic but Sparse – A Rainy Day Visit to Nihonmatsu Castle Ruins

We made a stop at the Nihonmatsu Castle Ruins, but I’d say it’s really more suited for those driving, as access without a car can be a bit of a challenge. I drove all the way up to the public parking area, which was just a small open patch—not many spots, and the road leading up was quite narrow, so do drive with caution. As for the site itself, don’t expect to see any standing castle structures—this is more of a historical site with stone foundations and remnants of what used to be. Interestingly, some of the photos displayed around the area actually seemed to be of Kasumigajo Park, which is nearby and might cause a bit of confusion for first-time visitors. That said, the views from the top were surprisingly nice, even on the rainy day we visited. The mist and drizzle added a moody, atmospheric touch to the ruins and surrounding trees, which made for some lovely, quiet moments despite the weather. If you’re a history buff or someone who enjoys walking through quiet, scenic ruins, you might still enjoy it.
