Wat Khian, Nonthaburi

In the past, the area around Wat Khian was a pier with a Chinese shrine (Pueng Tao Kong Shrine) that was a place of worship for passersby. Later, an unnamed monk who had traveled from Ayutthaya came to the pier area and wished to build a temple there. He sought donations from the faithful, including a Chinese merchant named Kiang, who contributed funds and helped build the temple. It is believed that the temple was initially called Wat Kiang, but over time the name evolved to Wat Khian.
