At that time, it was just a monastery in the middle of a rice field. When monks resided there, it began to develop into a temple. In the beginning, Phra Khru Pricha Chalerm or Luang Pu Chaeng of Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Worawihan was the initiator of the temple's construction. Many devotees donated land and were granted permission to build it on June 24, 1892. - As for the four-sided ordination hall of Wat Buakwan, construction began in November 2003. Phra Phuttha Metta (a replica of Phra Phuttha Metta enshrined in the Bodh Gaya pagoda in India) is the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall. Outside the ordination hall, there are stucco figures of angels and bells all around.
