In the morning, we visited Ohrid. Ohrid is an important city in North Macedonia. It once had 365 churches, hence the name "Jerusalem of the Balkans." Lake Ohrid is the second largest freshwater lake in the Balkans, with an altitude of 695 meters and a depth of more than 100 meters. Surrounded by mountains, the lake has steep shores and beautiful scenery, making it a famous resort. Today is the weekend, and the lakeside is bustling with tourists enjoying the tranquil scenery of the lake and mountains. The ancient city of Ohrid is located on the northeast shore of Lake Ohrid and was built in the 2nd century BC. The city is home to many ancient buildings and historical sites, including the unique and magnificent Orthodox churches such as St. Sophia. To facilitate the passage of vehicles and pedestrians on the narrow streets, most of the houses are built in a style that is small at the bottom and large at the top. Climbing to the medieval castle, you can overlook Lake Ohrid, which has a circumference of 34 kilometers. In 1980, the ancient city of Ohrid was inscribed on the World Heritage List. In the 20-minute gap, we flew the drone to take another look at the ancient city of Ohrid, the castle, and Lake Ohrid. After lunch, we drove to Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, and arrived and checked in at 5:00 pm.
