Wisteria flowers near Nagoya🪻

Wisteria reminds us of elegant women wearing kimonos. In Japan, long ago, wisteria was considered women and pine trees were considered men, and they were planted to be entwined. The current tradition of admiring wisteria trellis is said to have begun in the Edo period, and these seven wisteria stalks were transplanted from near the castle entrance in 1911. You can see their age from the way the vines grow over the 1,300 square meter trellis and the 1 meter long flowers. This wisteria is called Gomangoku Fuji, referring to the value of the Okazaki Domain.
