[Osaka Museum of Housing and Living] An indoor museum where you can stroll through the traditional streets of Osaka during the Edo period

Perfect for a rainy day visit! It looks like an outdoor museum, but it is actually indoors. However, the place is not too big, so you have to store your luggage, backpacks, umbrellas, and even tripods and drink bottles. This indoor museum lets you stroll through Edo-era Osaka houses like a traditional street with small houses and shops on both sides. Visitors can enter some rooms, which are decorated with many old objects from that time, such as the place where medicines are dispensed in the pharmacy and the interior decoration of a wealthy family, which is simple yet solemn; as soon as you step on the tatami, you can smell the fragrance, which is very comfortable; on the 8th floor are models of Osaka city from different eras, which can be carefully wandered and admired, as well as electrical appliances used by residents of the old era and other products. The 10th floor observatory offers a bird's eye view of Osaka during the Edo period from the 9th floor. Although all the buildings are reconstructions, you can learn about life back then while walking through a replica of the old town with the help of an audio guide (the audio guide is well worth the ¥100). Their sky dome design is very special with interesting lighting and sound effects. Even indoors, you can feel the scenes of the morning, afternoon and evening, and even hear the rain, thunder and lightning. It really feels like a "one-day time-travel life experience", making visitors feel like they are part of the Edo period. You can choose to rent a kimono at the museum and stroll around the old town. You can take Kyoto-style photos for only ¥1,000 (30 minutes). The most important thing is that there is air conditioning in the room, so I don’t feel hot at all after putting on the kimono.
