Wat Saothong Thong, Koh Kret.

Wat Saothong Thong is a public temple located in Moo 6, Ban Saothong Thong, Koh Kret Subdistrict, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. It is also the location of the first primary school in Pak Kret District. Originally, Wat Saothong Thong was called 'Wat Suan Mak' because when the temple was built, all the betel nut trees were cut down. The temple was built by the Mon people who settled in Koh Kret during the Ayutthaya period. The Mon people called it 'Pia Alat', which means 'Western Temple' because it is located on the west side of Koh Kret. Later, Chao Chom Manda Ampha in the reign of King Rama II, along with Krom Muen Phuban Borirak and Krom Khun Worachak Thoranuphap, jointly restored the temple during the late reign of King Mongkut. The temple was renamed 'Wat Saothong Thong' because many swan poles were erected in front of the temple. However, these swan poles were later damaged, and Phra Udomyanmuni, the former abbot, ordered their removal.
