Turkey ~ Pamukkale, Denizli

Pamukkale is located in the Denizli province in southwestern Turkey, about 400 kilometers southwest of the capital Ankara. It is also the site of the ancient city of Hierapolis, which was built in 190 BC. Pamukkale has unique scenery. Hot spring water flows down from the top of the cave, washing the hillside into terraced milky white steps. The spring water accumulates into small ponds on the platforms. Looking down from above, the hot spring platforms resemble mirrors reflecting the blue sky and white clouds. Looking up from below, it resembles a recently erupted volcano, with white lava covering the entire hillside, which is quite spectacular. Stay at the Apollo Garden Hotel here.
