3 Days in Paris with the Elderly: Yes, It’s Totally Possible (and Beautiful!)

3 Days Itinerary Traveling to Paris with grandparents or elderly family members? Don’t worry — it’s absolutely doable, even with public transportation! We recently spent 2 nights and 3 days in Paris with our elderly loved ones, and it turned out to be a memorable, heartwarming experience. Here’s how we made it smooth, fun, and meaningful. Where We Stayed We stayed in a quiet neighborhood about a 20-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, near Cambronne Metro Station. It was peaceful, convenient, and gave us easy access to the city's highlights without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Day 1: Sunset from Montparnasse Tower We arrived in Paris in the late afternoon, so we took it easy and headed straight to Montparnasse Tower by Uber. This modern skyscraper offers one of the best panoramic views of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower in all its glory. Tip:Try to time your visit around sunset, and stay until 8:00 PM, when the Eiffel Tower begins to twinkle for the first time. That magical sparkle moment? Totally worth the wait. Day 2: Metro Adventures, City Icons & Eiffel Photo Tips We spent the day exploring via the Paris Metro, which is surprisingly manageable once you get used to it — even with seniors. Just avoid rush hour if possible. Our first destination was the iconic Champs-Élysées, where we strolled down the avenue, took photos near the Arc de Triomphe, browsed a few shops, and enjoyed coffee at a charming Parisian café. In the afternoon, we headed to the Louvre Museum— not to go inside (we didn’t have enough time), but simply to take in the stunning exterior, especially the glass pyramid. It’s a perfect photo stop without the need for long lines or walking through galleries. Later that day, of course, we returned to the Eiffel Tower. Photo tip: For a great angle with fewer crowds, cross the Seine River and shoot from the opposite bank. It gives you a wide, beautiful view — ideal for those postcard-perfect shots. Day 3: Notre-Dame & A French Farewell Lunch With our flight in the afternoon, we kept our last day simple. We visited the Notre-Dame Cathedral, which remains striking even from the outside as it continues its restoration. For lunch, we stopped at a cozy restaurant on a quiet street behind the cathedral. Must-try: Escargot! Yes, snails — but don’t be afraid. They're garlicky, buttery, and surprisingly delicious, especially for first-timers. Extra Tips: Traveling with Elderly Loved Ones When traveling with grandparents, the key is to follow their pace. Walk slowly, allow time for lots of toilet breaks (many public restrooms in Paris are paid — usually €1), and just embrace the slower rhythm. It may take a bit longer to get around, but it’s more than worth it. You’re not just sightseeing — you're creating beautiful memories together. Be patient and present. The joy on their faces will stay with you far longer than any postcard. #aprilblooms #paris #travel
