The charm of a quiet island: A trip to Hujing Island, Penghu

#AprilGoodDestinations2025 Penghu has many outlying islands worth visiting. Although Hujing Island is not as well-known as Qimei and Wangan, it has a unique tranquility and purity. This time when I set foot on Hujing Island, I experienced the slow pace of life on the island, and deeply felt the natural and cultural charm of this small island. Hujing Island is a small island, but the attractions on the island are very interesting. The most representative one is the Tropic of Cancer Monument, which is one of the very few places in Taiwan crossed by the Tropic of Cancer. Standing in front of the monument and imagining the sun passing directly overhead at the summer solstice, the feeling of "standing on the road of the sun" is incredibly magical. The island still retains many simple settlements and natural landscapes. Walking slowly along the trail, you can enjoy the sea views and reefs along the coast. Occasionally, you will meet local residents who will greet you warmly, which makes you feel the strong human touch. The entire island is not overdeveloped, but instead has a primitive and quiet atmosphere of life where people can truly relax. Although I didn't spend much time on Hujing Island, I cherish this time of dialogue with the sea and the land. This island may be low-key, but it has the power to soothe people's hearts. When I left, I couldn't help but look back a few more times, thinking that if I had the chance in the future, I would definitely come back again to experience this rare tranquility and beauty again.
