Phra That Phu Phek, Sakon Nakhon

#TeamNortheastern Phra That Phu Pek, a tourist attraction in Sakon Nakhon, a sacred land on the top of Phu Phan mountain, is a stone castle filled with traces of history and culture that has been around for more than a thousand years. It is also important in terms of astronomy as it can tell the date, time, and season. It is considered an important historical tourist attraction in Sakon Nakhon. Phra That Phu Pek Castle or Phra That Phu Pek is an ancient Khmer stone castle located on the top of Phu Phan mountain, Na Hua Bo Subdistrict, Phanna Nikhom District, Sakon Nakhon Province. To go up to see the beauty of this stone castle, you have to walk up 491 steps! It's quite tiring, but when you get there, you will see an ancient chedi and a well next to it. The castle itself is built of sandstone on a laterite base. It has a square plan with recessed corners connected to the pavilion from the front. The first level is approximately 1.58 meters high, the second level is approximately 0.70 meters high. The castle itself is 7.67 meters high. It is an unfinished castle with no roof or spire, only the beams that can be seen today.
