Wat Traiphum, Phetchabun Province 🙏It is an ancient temple in the heart of Phetchabun. There is an important Buddha image of the province, Phra Phuttha Maha Thammaracha, a Buddha image in the meditation posture in Lopburi art (Khmer Bayon style), made of golden bronze with a large lap. It was found in the Pa Sak River. It is the guardian Buddha image of Phetchabun and the tradition of carrying the Buddha underwater. 🌧️Legend has it that in ancient times, there was a severe drought. The rain did not fall in season. Crops were damaged. Villagers suffered. Therefore, they invited Phra Phuttha Maha Thammaracha to parade and ask for rain. One of the rituals is “carrying the Buddha underwater”. It is believed to be a way to “poke the sky and the earth” to make rain. After this ritual, the rain fell as requested.
