There is a legend that Inside Tham Rong is a large standing Buddha statue on the cave wall. It is more than 1,000-1,300 years old. It is believed that the villagers at that time must have jointly built it to be enshrined in Tham Rong and to perform activities according to Buddhist principles. When looking at it, it looks like a dark red plaster Buddha statue that looks black. The villagers therefore called it Luang Pho Dam. They said that the molding of this Buddha statue was probably mixed with betel nuts, which are widely grown in the forests in this area. Therefore, the color of the Buddha statue is slightly black.
