Wat Mahayong, a temple outside Ayutthaya

Wat Mahaeyong is outside the city. It is a large temple divided into two parts: the part that is still in use, called the meditation part, where monks reside and perform religious ceremonies like in any modern temple; and the ancient site part. I went to visit the ancient site part, which did not seem to be popular with tourists because I was the only one walking around. It is one of six temples that can be visited with the combined ticket. Each part has clear boundaries, but all are in ruins. If you study history, it is worth a visit.
