Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat is located in the city of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Its highlight is the more than 100-year-old Buddha head in the roots of a tree. This Buddha head is made of sandstone, with only the head remaining. The body of the Buddha is missing. It is an Ayutthaya style Buddha head, placed in the roots of a Bodhi tree next to the temple. It is believed that the head of the Buddha fell to the base of a tree during the fall of Ayutthaya, and the roots covered it, making it uniquely beautiful and a wonder. This has made this temple famous and well-known among both Thais and foreigners. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The entrance fee for Thais is 10 baht and for foreigners is 50 baht. #Songkran attractions #Visit historical sites #Songkran attractions #World Heritage

Wat Chaiwatthanaram

Wat Chaiwatthanaram or Wat Chaiwatthanaram is an ancient temple from the late Ayutthaya period. It is located in Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, on the bank of the Chao Phraya River on the west side outside the city island. The architecture of the construction is unlike any other temple in Ayutthaya. Some of it was influenced by Khmer art, modeled after Angkor Wat, namely, there is a main prang and corner prangs on the same base in the middle of the area, surrounded by four other prangs. It is open to visitors every day from 08.30–16.30. The admission fee is 10 baht for Thais and 50 baht for foreigners. #SongkranAttractions #ancientlandmark#ancientarchitecture#VisitHistoricalSite #SongkranAttractions
