Phra That Pu Chae Temple, Phrae Province

Wat Phra That Pu Jae is located in Ban Bun Rueng, Village No. 4, Ban Bun Rueng, Ban Wiang Subdistrict, Rong Kwang District, Phrae Province. Currently, the Fine Arts Department has registered it as a national ancient monument. Phra That Pu Jae is enshrined in a square pagoda, 4 meters long on each side and 4 meters high, containing the right ankle bone of the Lord Buddha. It is an important ancient monument in Phrae Province. It was built hundreds of years ago, during many eras, and was restored regularly by many rulers. The Phra That Pu Jae worship festival or the pagoda ascension festival is held on the 11th-15th waxing moon of the 3rd month of every year (the 5th northern month). In local dialect, urinary retention (a symptom of inability to urinate) is called "paw chae". When the Bodhisattva became a Buddha, He traveled to spread the Dharma to the people at Doi Muang Kham (Phayao City District). He followed the same route to this mountain and smiled. Phra Anan, who was following him, asked what happened here. He told him all about his past. Phra Anan asked that this place should be a place of worship for all Buddhists in the future. The Buddha gave a strand of his hair to Phra Anan. At that time, Phra In created a box to hold the hair and put it in the tunnel of this mountain.
