布吉島的遊船尾跡尚未消散，皇帝島的珊瑚礁已在12海里外甦醒。這座泰文名為「ราชา（Racha）」的離島，自1960年代成為泰王普密蓬的夏日行宮後，火山岩上便刻下了皇室的生態密碼：東岸的百年欖仁樹腰圍嵌著純銀銘牌，記載著1972年詩麗吉王后親手種下的紅樹幼苗，如今已形成庇護幼魚的迴游通道。

清晨的珊瑚花園是潛水者的秘境。北緯7度的陽光穿透3米淺灘，將鹿角珊瑚染成霓虹叢林。島東「帝王崖」的水下浮雕，藏著1980年代海軍陸戰隊的珊瑚修復計劃——退役坦克被澆築成人工魚礁，炮管裡如今住著小丑魚家族。當地潛導阿南的祖父曾是皇室守島人，他至今記得1965年王儲首次潛水時，親手為沉船殘骸繫上的金色祈福綢帶，如今已化作硨磲貝的共生藻床。

正午的沙灘屬於漫步的牛群。這些被皇室特許在島上自由遷徙的婆羅門牛，頸間銅鈴刻著「พระราชา」（皇家）字樣。1998年開發度假村時，設計師特意在椰林小徑埋下感應式地燈——當牛群經過，嵌在白沙裡的LED燈會自動亮起，模仿皇室儀仗的月光路徑。牛群最愛的芒果灣，沙粒中藏著19世紀暹羅商船的青花瓷碎片，與牛蹄踏出的淺坑共同構成時光的酒窩。

黃昏的潮汐遵循皇室曆法。每天18:15，當最後一縷陽光吻上島西的「國王岩」，度假村的銅鐘會敲響12聲——這是1960年普密蓬國王首次登島的時辰。懸崖餐廳的玻璃地板下，退潮的海水露出1942年沉沒的日本運輸艦殘骸，鏽蝕的羅盤指針永遠指向曼谷方向。主廚阿姜的菜單裡，保留著1965年王室宴客的「翡翠椰皇盅」，椰子殼上的皇室徽章，與沙灘上牛群的蹄印形成奇妙的時空對話。

入夜後的雨林響起古老的暹羅民謠。守島人頌猜的竹樓裡，懸掛著1958年泰王賞賜的銀質水燈，每年水燈節，他會划船到島中央的鹹水湖，將複刻的王室水燈放入湖中——湖底沉積著歷代皇室扔下的硬幣，最新的一枚是2019年拉瑪十世即位時的紀念幣，與公元前的赤陶碎片共享寂靜。

這座面積僅12平方公里的小島，用半個世紀的皇室庇護，完成了旅遊業的溫柔革命。當布吉島的遊客在芭東海灘數著鈔票，皇帝島的珊瑚正以每年1.5厘米的速度生長，牛群的鈴鐺聲依然比摩托艇轟鳴清脆，而那些被皇室禁止開發的西岸懸崖，至今保留著1960年第一縷吻醒國王的晨光。

While the wake of speedboats still lingers around Phuket, the coral reefs of Emperor Island, 12 nautical miles away, are already awakening. This island, known as "ราชา (Racha)" in Thai, has held a royal ecological secret since the 1960s when it became King Bhumibol Adulyadej's summer palace.  Century-old Indian almond trees on the east coast bear sterling silver plaques, commemorating the red mangrove saplings planted by Queen Sirikit in 1972, which now form a migratory channel sheltering young fish.

The coral gardens at dawn are a diver's paradise. Sunlight from 7 degrees north latitude penetrates the 3-meter shallows, transforming staghorn coral into a neon jungle. Underwater, off the east coast's "King's Cliff," lies a coral restoration project from the 1980s undertaken by the Royal Thai Marine Corps. Decommissioned tanks, now artificial reefs, house families of clownfish within their gun barrels. Local dive guide Anan's grandfather, a former royal island guardian, recalls the 1965 visit of the Crown Prince, who, on his first dive, tied a golden prayer ribbon to a shipwreck, a ribbon now serving as a symbiotic algae bed for giant clams.

At noon, the beaches belong to strolling Brahman cattle. Permitted by the royal family to roam freely, their neck bells are engraved with "พระราชา" (Royal). When the resort was developed in 1998, designers embedded motion-sensing lights along the coconut grove paths. As the cattle pass, LED lights embedded in the white sand illuminate, mimicking the moonlit paths of royal processions.  Mango Bay, a favorite of the herd, hides shards of 19th-century Siamese merchant ship porcelain within its sands, forming dimples of time alongside the shallow hoofprints.

The evening tides follow the royal calendar. Every day at 6:15 pm, as the last rays of sun kiss the western "King's Rock," the resort's bronze bell tolls 12 times, marking the hour of King Bhumibol's first arrival in 1960. Beneath the glass floor of the cliff restaurant, the receding tide reveals the wreckage of a Japanese transport ship sunk in 1942, its rusted compass forever pointing towards Bangkok. Chef Ajiang's menu features the "Emerald Coconut King," a dish served to the royal family in 1965. The royal insignia on the coconut shell engages in a curious dialogue across time with the cattle's hoofprints on the beach.

After nightfall, ancient Siamese folk songs echo through the rainforest. In island keeper Somchai's bamboo house hangs a silver lantern gifted by the King in 1958. Every Loy Krathong, he rows to the island's central saltwater lake, releasing a replica of the royal lantern. The lake bed, a repository of coins tossed by generations of royals, holds coins as recent as a commemorative piece from King Rama X's 2019 coronation, sharing the silence with terracotta fragments from centuries past.

This small island, just 12 square kilometers, has undergone a gentle tourism revolution under a half-century of royal protection. While tourists in Phuket count their baht on Patong Beach, Emperor Island's coral grows at a rate of 1.5 centimeters per year, the cattle bells ring clearer than the roar of jet skis, and the undeveloped western cliffs, forbidden to development by royal decree, still hold the memory of the first light that greeted the King in 1960.

Flying to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines Business Class from Phuket International Airport was another impressive journey. The in-flight service by the crew, including the chef who prepared the meals, was excellent. This flight departs from Phuket and heads to Istanbul, Turkey. Two meals are served on board, and both were very delicious. I particularly enjoyed the buffet-style appetizers that the crew brought around, offering a variety of choices. The main courses for both meals were also very tasty. The seats on the A330 aircraft were spacious and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. It was another enjoyable and relaxing trip.
