Monument of Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Si Sunthon It is well known for the heroic deeds of the two heroines who protected Phuket Island from the enemy army in the early Rattanakosin era when the Burmese raised a large army to conquer Siam for the last time, or better known as the "Nine Armies War". At that time, Thanpuying Chan and her younger sister, Khun Muk, led the villagers to fight until they drove the enemy out of the invasion with bravery and intelligence. The heroic deeds at that time led King Rama I to issue a royal decree to reward those who had done good for the country, giving Thanpuying Chan the title of "Thao Thep Kasattri" and Khun Muk, her younger sister, the title of "Thao Si Sunthon". The monument was built in 1966 at the Tha Ruea Intersection in Thalang District by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Her Majesty the Queen inaugurated the monument of Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Si Sunthon on May 24, 1967. It is a prominent monument with two Thai heroines wearing chong kraben, a sleeveless shirt, and a sash, and holding a sword in their right hand.
