Don’t miss the fireworks display on the Douro River during the Sâo Joâo Festival in Porto

Porto celebrates Sâo Joâo for a week every year, but especially on the evening of the 23rd which is absolutely amazing. There were concerts and people dancing everywhere, everyone had plastic hammers and were hitting strangers passing by, it was a party everywhere! One of the most anticipated moments of the day was undoubtedly at midnight, after everyone had tried to walk across the bridge (roads were all closed), we were lucky enough to get the best view of the fireworks over the Douro River. The bridge was the focal point of the Sâo Joâo firework celebrations, which was the highlight of our trip.
