Muang Tam Stone Castle

Prasat Muang Tam, Buriram Province 👍It is one of the groups of Prasat Markko. It is a religious site built according to the beliefs of Hinduism. It is assumed that it was built to dedicate to Lord Shiva. It was probably built by Brahmin Yajjavaraha, who built Prasat Banteay Srei. Because Prasat Muang Tam was built at the same time as Prasat Banteay Srei and has a similar castle plan and building group layout. 🏯It consists of the main buildings, which are 5 brick prangs, built on the same base, made of laterite, surrounded by a double wall. The inner wall is made of sandstone, a narrow, long, continuous square room called the covered gallery. The outer wall is a laterite wall. Both walls have sandstone archways in a vertical line on all 4 sides. 🐍There is a "Baray" (pond) built around the castle on all 4 sides, like the ocean surrounding Mount Sumeru. At the corners of the pond, there are 5-headed nagas raising their necks and spreading their hoods.
