The Kosovo Museum is the national museum of Kosovo, located in the city of Pristina. Founded in 1949 by the Yugoslav authorities, it is the largest museum in Kosovo and is housed in an Austro-Hungarian building from 1889, which once housed high military command. The museum is the oldest cultural heritage institution in Kosovo, established to preserve, restore and exhibit the territory's movable heritage. The entire museum consists of three museum sections: the Kosovo Museum itself, the Emin Gjiku housing complex, which houses ethnological exhibitions, and the Independence Museum.
