Miguazu National Park, Canada

In 1842, Abraham Gessner, a geologist, medical doctor and oil industry pioneer, discovered 380 million-year-old fish fossils near Penn-Carleton on the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, Canada. Today the area, Miguazu National Park, is a protected area in Binhai Carleton on the Gaspé Peninsula in the Canadian province of Quebec, created by the Quebec government in 1985 and listed as a World Heritage Site in 1999 in recognition of its rich fossils that illustrate key periods in the evolution of life on Earth.
