Reverend Father Kaenchan

Luang Por Kaenchan, Wat Chong Lom, Ratchaburi Province 🙏This is a Buddha image holding an alms bowl, made of bronze. The lower part is carved from sandalwood, a fragrant wood. It is 2.26 meters tall from the feet to the topknot. Luang Por Kaenchan's alms bowl is different from the usual alms bowl holding postures. The alms bowl looks like it is in an alms bag, and both of his hands are holding a roll of cloth that extends about 1 cubit from the bowl, which has become the identity of Luang Por Kaenchan to this day. 🙏According to legend, a man was traveling in search of food in the forest and encountered a tiger. He ran up a tree and prayed that if he survived, he would carve a Buddha image from the tree. It turned out that he really survived, so he invited the villagers to cut down the tree to carve a Buddha image. While cutting down the tree, they found that the tree was sandalwood, which is very expensive and rare. After carving the Buddha image, they enshrined it at Ban Kaeng Luang. 🙏Later, there was a heavy rain. Luang Pho Kaenchan floated down the Mae Klong River. Many temples tried to catch him to enshrine him, but they were unsuccessful. When he floated to the front of Wat Chong Lom, the abbot prayed to him.
