The Ulugh Bek Observatory

Visiting the Ulugh Beg Observatory in Samarkand offers a fascinating glimpse into 15th-century astronomical advancements. Constructed between 1428 and 1429 by Ulugh Beg, a Timurid ruler and esteemed astronomer, the observatory was one of the era’s largest and most sophisticated.   Today, visitors can explore the remnants of the observatory, including the impressive semicircular foundation of the massive quadrant used for celestial observations. The site also features a museum that showcases artifacts and provides insights into Ulugh Beg’s significant contributions to astronomy.
