Phummarin Kudi Thong Temple, Samut Songkhram Province

Wat Phummarin Kudi Thong, Amphoe Amphawa, Samut Songkhram Province The Kudi Thong is a Thai-style wooden house decorated with gold leaf patterns both inside and outside the house, which is the origin of the name Kudi Thong. Originally, the Kudi Thong was located at Wat Bang Li Bon on the banks of the Mae Klong River in the area that is now Tambon Suan Luang, Amphoe Amphawa, Samut Songkhram Province. It is said that Somdet Phra Amarindra, the Queen of King Rama I of the Rattanakosin Era, built it for the abbot of Wat Bang Li Bon around the year 2325 because Somdet Phra Amarindra had her original residence at Ban Bang Chang, Tambon Amphawa, and had faith in the abbot of Wat Bang Li since she was still residing in Ban Bang Chang. When she was appointed Queen, she built a total of 3 Kudi Thong houses for the abbot of Wat Bang Li Bon. Later, Wat Bang Li Bon became a deserted temple because its location was in the area The bend in the river was eroded by the current, causing the temple to have less and less space. Over time, damage was done to various buildings in the temple, including two golden huts that collapsed, leaving only one remaining. Bang Li Bon Temple eventually became a deserted temple. Until around 1925, Phra Athikarn Kia, the abbot of Wat Phummarin, demolished the last remaining golden hut and relocated it to Wat Phummarin, which is located on the banks of the Mae Klong River, at the mouth of Khlong Prawet Phetchabhum (mouth of Khlong Bang Li), on the west side of Amphoe Amphawa. He also collected various religious objects that used to be in Bang Li Bon Temple, such as the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, a replica of the Buddha's footprint, and various Buddha images, and enshrined them at Wat Phummarin. Since then, Wat Phummarin has been called Wat Phummarin Kudi Thong. #VisitHistoricalSite #SecretCoordinates #TravelThailandLikeAbroad #PlacesToVisitNearBangkok
