Hokkaido 🇯🇵 Pioneer Village

The "Hokkaido Pioneer Village" located in Nopporo Forest Park is an outdoor museum opened to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Hokkaido. The museum has restored and preserved historic buildings that reflected the industry, life, and culture of Hokkaido's development era during the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras and were moved from various parts of Hokkaido to this site. The village is divided into four areas: city streets, rural areas, mountain villages, and fishing villages to recreate the scenes at that time. Once you step into the exhibition area, it feels like you are in Hokkaido more than 100 years ago. In summer, visitors may wish to take a horse-drawn carriage railway tour, while in winter it is recommended to take a horse-drawn sleigh ride. There are many activities to experience the culture of the pioneer period, such as traditional toy making and straw crafting classes.
