Time Travel Through History: The Historical Imprints of Hokkaido Historical Village

Located on the outskirts of Sapporo, the Hokkaido Historical Village spans 54 hectares and serves as an open-air museum dedicated to "preservation and heritage." The park meticulously recreates the challenging journey of settlers who developed Hokkaido from the late 19th to early 20th century. It is divided into four thematic zones: urban, rural, mountain, and fishing villages, featuring 52 historical buildings relocated and restored from various regions. Strolling along the cobblestone streets, visitors can explore Meiji-era structures like the former Hokkaido Government Office, Taisho-era shopping streets, and a functioning steam train station. The rural area showcases thatched-roof settler houses and farming tools, illustrating early agricultural techniques. In winter, snow blankets the wooden buildings, creating a frozen time capsule.
