A Symbol of Justice – My Visit to The Hague Peace Palace

Stepping inside, I was immersed in the palace’s rich history. Built in the early 20th century, it houses institutions like the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Each room reflected the contributions of different nations, with gifts such as the stunning Russian vase, the intricate Japanese silk tapestries, and the Italian marble flooring symbolizing global unity. The highlight of my visit was the Great Hall of Justice, where major international disputes have been deliberated. The grandeur of its high ceilings, stained-glass windows, and ornate woodwork added to the solemnity of the space. Standing there, I reflected on the weight of the decisions made within these walls—decisions that have shaped the course of world history. Outside, the palace gardens provided a tranquil contrast to the weighty significance of the building. Walking among the manicured lawns and fountains, I was reminded of the ideals that the Peace Palace represents: diplomacy, cooperation, and the hope for a more just world.
