Affordable and Fascinating Museum

Located in Sendai City, the Tohoku University Museum (Natural History Museum of the Faculty of Science) is an academic facility where you can experience the history of the Earth and the evolution of life. The museum houses approximately 1,200 exhibits, including full dinosaur skeletons, fossils of ancient organisms, and rock and mineral specimens, allowing visitors to learn about the Earth's changes over the past 2 billion years. Notably, the fossils of "Utatsusaurus" and "Sendai Mizuhoku Whale," discovered in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, are valuable materials symbolizing the region's natural history. The exhibition hall is a two-story cylindrical structure with an open central area, where full skeletons of Stegosaurus, Fukuiraptor, and Iwashi Whale are displayed in an impressive manner.
