Shanghai State Guesthouse—Xijiao Guesthouse

Shanghai Xijiao Guesthouse, honored as a state guesthouse, has hosted various national dignitaries and leaders throughout different historical periods. The guesthouse is located at No. 1921 Hongqiao Road, a street number with special significance. With the urban development of Shanghai, the guesthouse, originally situated in the western suburbs, is now within the city limits. Covering an area of 1,200 acres, the guesthouse boasts nearly 800,000 square meters of expansive garden and waterfront landscapes, offering guests a visual feast of Shanghai and redefining the unique ambiance of a luxurious garden state guesthouse with the poetic charm of "a boat sailing on water, people wandering in a painting." The grounds feature vast lawns, wide water areas, and several specialized gardens such as a large forest area, mountainous region, flower and fruit forest scenic area, bamboo forest scenic area, lotus pond scenic area, bulb garden area, greenhouse bonsai area, and more. The park includes lakes, exotic flowers and plants everywhere, over 800 towering ancient trees, and rare birds strolling throughout. The guesthouse buildings are nestled within dense verdant woods. The overall design is simple and elegant, blending art and nature. Building No. 7, Muruju, draws architectural inspiration from the traditional features of Jiangnan water town residences, interpreted in a modern style to create a unique classic expression.
