The hotel has reached a level where it can afford to be proudly indulged— The first paragraph of its official introduction reads: "From the moment you step into The PuLi, and throughout your stay, we believe you’ll feel that The PuLi truly transcends the ordinary, defying the conventions of traditional luxury hotels." The PuLi sees itself as extraordinary, even superior to other luxury hotels. Over 16 years, challengers have repeatedly fallen short, only adding luster to these words. Nestled between the bustling L'Oréal and the incense-filled Jing’an Temple, The PuLi sits at the heart of Shanghai’s Jing’an District—urban yet secluded. The hotel is accessed through a discreet entrance on Changde Road. Following the bamboo fence and winding path, your mind gradually quiets. The drop-off area, framed by Shanghai’s gray bricks and dappled tree shadows, feels like a hidden courtyard. Stepping out of the car and seeing the hitching post by the entrance, you know—you’re home.
