Shangri-La University Student Guide!!! The first day, we took the high-speed train at noon to Shangri-La. The first thing after getting off the train was a big surprise; we could directly see the snow-capped mountains (p1). Since we arrived at an altitude of over 3000 meters, there was a bit of altitude sickness, kind of like the feeling of seeing too much milk, but it was okay since we gradually ascended. We stayed at the Tree Space Hotel near the north gate of Dukezong Ancient Town. This hotel is quite unique as it is entirely made of wood. The hotel owner will help you with your luggage, starting from the stone road, so it's best to contact them in advance. The owner is very nice, the rooms are quite clean, and they have diffused oxygen supply. The price was around 300, which we found very satisfactory. However, the breakfast provided was quite ordinary; I guess it's because water doesn't boil well on the plateau. For lunch, we ate at the Ganla Medo Tibetan Restaurant, which was really delicious. We ordered a meal for two, and after we remarked that it was a bit spicy, the owner gave us two servings of yogurt, which was also very tasty (I had three bowls of rice). In the afternoon, we visited Dukezong Ancient Town, which is very beautiful, and the food there is delicious. Ama's butter tea: the sweet butter tea is very good, but the butter cheese drink is just average. However, I bought the packaged butter cheese (the kind that comes in bags) from that shop, which is super delicious. I sent a lot to my family and bought two bags for myself. Then we went to the prayer wheels (the weather was very good that day, the best during our stay in Shangri-La, so the photos turned out great, a delight for photography enthusiasts). In the evening, we went to eat at the Quiet Mani Stone Yak Meat restaurant, which I found very tasty, especially the highland barley cakes. The portions were also generous; a meal for two was enough for three people. The second day, we visited Potatso National Park in the morning and Songzanlin Monastery in the afternoon, and stayed at the Shili Snow Mountain Margery Manor in the evening. We booked the transport to Potatso through Diqing Transportation. Remember not to make a mistake here; buy oxygen bottles in advance in the ancient town or at the hotel, not in the scenic area or from the driver. The price is around 15 yuan, and one bottle per person is enough. If you're really weak, then get another bottle. Don't be scared by the driver because there is a lot of greenery there, so we felt there was plenty of oxygen. Our hotel offered a shuttle service to the closer scenic spots, so we first went to Potatso, then returned to the north gate of the ancient town, and then the hotel staff took us to Songshan 04. Then he took our luggage to the hotel separately. Finally, he picked us up at Songzanlin Monastery (actually, they finish work at 6:00, but because the driver was very nice, he came to pick us up again at 6:30). Potatso was not fully green at this time, but it was still very beautiful, and the grass, cows, and squirrels were very cute. However, due to time constraints, we only went to Shudu Lake.
