Zhejiang's Top Fall Hiking Trail: Genglou Ancient Trail for Dawn Redwood Viewing

In mid-December, the dawn redwoods gradually turn red, becoming the most intense color of late autumn. Shaoxing Shengzhou's Genglou Ancient Trail has become a popular weekend destination. ⭐Route: Nanshan Reservoir ➡ Lumen Academy ➡ Guimen Township ➡ Xiangbi Reservoir I took the 9 km small loop, with an elevation gain of about 300 meters. It's very relaxing and takes about 3–5 hours. ⛰Attractions: 1️⃣Nanshan Reservoir: The elevation gain is mainly in the first section. After half an hour of climbing, the view suddenly opens up. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can overlook the reservoir surrounded by mountains. The scenery is beautiful. 2️⃣Lumen Academy: An ancient academy with a history of more than 1,000 years. The great Confucian scholar Zhu Xi once visited and inscribed "Guimen," so Lumen Academy is also known as Guimen Academy. There are vendors selling fried rice cakes in front of the academy, so you can stock up. 3️⃣Guimen Township: A very small town where you can have lunch. The local specialty is tofu rice cake soup, which costs CNY 10 and is very filling. 4️⃣Xiangbi Reservoir: The highlight! The reservoir is surrounded by dawn redwoods, which are fiery red and very photogenic.
