Route Introduction🧐： Hidden on the Dapeng Peninsula in Shenzhen is a classic introductory coastline—Dongchong-Xichong. It has been named one of "China's Most Beautiful Coastlines" by National Geographic! The entire hike follows the coastline, and the scenery along the way is absolutely stunning. Islands, reefs, sea-eroded rocks, and various other coastal landforms are everywhere. As you hike, you'll be treated to endless blue ocean views, making for a truly enjoyable experience. The route starts from Dongchong and ends at Xichong, passing by the Shenzhen Astronomical Observatory along the way. The observatory's boardwalk is a stepped path that leads directly to Chuanbiyan Rock below. Route Overview📋： With a two-star difficulty rating, this is a moderately leisurely route with four-star scenery👍. The entire route is about 7 km long, with a total elevation gain of about 200 m and a maximum elevation of 146 m. At a normal pace, it takes about 5 hours to complete. The starting point is at Dongchong Shagang Village. Along the way, you'll encounter various terrains, including mountain trails, dirt roads, reefs, beaches, and steps. The diverse scenery makes it a perfect spot for taking photos. If you get tired along the way, you can take a speedboat. And as long as you follow the observatory boardwalk to the observatory, you can return to the coastline and continue your hike. The route starts from Dongchong Shagang Village, passes through various scenic spots, including Chuanbiyan Rock, the Dongchong-Xichong sign, and the observatory, and finally arrives at Xichong Beach and then Xichong Yashan Village. Physical Requirements👣： The overall difficulty is not high, making it suitable for leisurely hiking and photography. The physical requirements are not demanding, and anyone without injuries that prevent them from engaging in moderate exercise can try it. However, there are quite a few sections with reefs, so be sure to proceed with caution and watch your footing. There are also some cliff sections that require climbing with the aid of iron chains, so gloves are recommended. If you're afraid of heights, avoid the cliff sections. Equipment Recommendations🎒： For clothing, casual sportswear, hiking shoes, and quick-drying clothes are essential. Don't forget a face mask, sun-protective sleeves, a hat, and gloves for sun protection. For food and drinks, prepare 2–3 L of drinking water, some fruits like cherry tomatoes and grapes, sports drinks, eight-treasure porridge, dry food, and preserved vegetables for energy replenishment. Also, bring a power bank, charging cable, waterproof bag, garbage bag, headlamp or flashlight, camera, and drone as needed. Trekking poles, knee pads, and other protective gear can also be brought along. Other personal items or medications should be prepared according to your own needs.
