Shenzhen Dachong Village's Dawang Ancient Temple: A serene historical retreat amidst the urban landscape.

Located in Dachong Community (formerly Dachong Village) of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, the Dawang Ancient Temple is a tranquil historical site surrounded by modern skyscrapers. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty and renovated multiple times during the Qing Dynasty, the current structure was reconstructed in 1996. It is the largest Dawang Ancient Temple in Shenzhen. The temple faces south and features a layout with five bays, two courtyards, and one central atrium. It spans 15.3 meters in width and 17.8 meters in depth, comprising the main gate, front hall, worship pavilion, side rooms, corridors, side halls, and rear hall. The temple primarily worships Zhu Rong, the God of the South Sea, with a central statue of Dawang, flanked by statues of his wife and Da Xi Sikong. The side halls house statues of the God of Wealth and the Earth God. Inside the temple, numerous murals narrate stories of the past. In front of the temple, stone lions and drums stand guard, while ancient towering trees provide a serene backdrop. Every year on the 15th day of the second lunar month, locals celebrate Dawang's birthday with incense offerings, theatrical performances, and prayers for favorable weather. Here, visitors can experience the blend of history and modernity and immerse themselves in the charm of traditional culture. The temple is open to the public free of charge, with operating hours from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. It is conveniently accessible via the High-Tech Park Station (Exit B) on the Metro Luobao Line.
