Basic Information - Opening hours: 9:00 am–7:30 pm. - Ticket prices: CNY 100 during peak season, CNY 55 during off-season. - Address: No. 1 Langka Road, Samzhubzê District, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region. Transportation - External transportation: You can fly to Shigatse Peace Airport or take the train to Shigatse Railway Station. You can also take a long-distance bus to Shigatse. - Internal transportation: In Shigatse, you can take bus No. 1, No. 3, etc. directly to Tashilhunpo Monastery. You can also take a taxi or walk. Tour Route - Regular tour route: Coqen Hall > Jampa Buddha Hall > Fourth Panchen Lama Stupa Hall > Tenth Panchen Lama Stupa Hall > Giant Thangka Unfolding Platform. - In-depth tour route: In addition to the regular route, you can also visit the printing house, monks' dormitories, and other areas of Tashilhunpo Monastery to learn more about the temple's history and culture and the lives of the monks. Must-See Attractions - Coqen Hall: The main hall of the temple, it is grand and solemn. The corridor outside the hall was once where the Panchen Lama preached. - Jampa Buddha Hall: One of the most magnificent halls in the temple, it houses the world's tallest and largest gilded bronze seated Buddha statue, the Jampa Buddha, which is 26.2m high. - Stupa Halls: There are the stupa halls of the Fourth, Tenth, and other Panchen Lamas. The Tenth Panchen Lama Stupa Hall is elaborately crafted with 614 kg of gold, 275 kg of silver, and a large number of precious stones. - Giant Thangka Unfolding Platform: Every year in the middle of May in the Tibetan calendar, farmers and herdsmen from all over Ngari Prefecture come to participate in the Thangka Unfolding Festival, where a giant Thangka of Buddha is displayed. Important Notes - Respect religious customs: Do not step over ritual instruments or braziers. Prayer wheels and prayer barrels should be turned clockwise. Do not touch lamas' amulets, prayer beads, or other religious objects. - Dress appropriately: Do not wear skirts or revealing clothing. Remove hats and sunglasses before entering the monastery. - Behave appropriately: Smoking and loud noises are prohibited inside the temple. Do not step on the threshold. Do not point at Buddha statues. Follow the principle of entering from the left and exiting from the right.
