Visit the Lee Ko-Yung Memorial Library to enjoy an art exhibition

Recently, a hidden reading garden has been established in Fulin Park, located opposite the Shilin Residence. This new addition has become a haven for book lovers and students alike. The Lee Ko-Yung Memorial Library, funded by private enterprises, is Taipei City's first municipal library branch equipped with an RFID smart library system for automated operations. The library features a high-ceiling design with one above-ground floor and two underground floors. Situated at the intersection of Zhongzheng Road and Fulin Road in Shilin District, Fulin Park spans approximately 2.6 hectares in a triangular shape. It is separated from the famous Shilin Residence by just one road. The entrance to the library is on Fulin Road. From Zhongzheng Road, its exterior might appear as a small, single-story building. However, the interior boasts a spacious design with tens of thousands of books. Originally planned as a three-story structure, the design was modified to one above-ground floor and two underground floors to blend harmoniously with the park's flat greenery, avoiding an overly conspicuous appearance. This adjustment creates a striking contrast between the library's exterior and interior. The library officially opened on October 27, 2013, funded by the Lee Ko-Yung Cultural and Educational Foundation and donated to Taipei City. To integrate with its surroundings, the library uses abundant wooden materials, incorporates natural lighting, plants greenery, and features a health trail. It is also the first library branch in Taipei City to adopt RFID smart equipment, making borrowing and returning books more convenient and time-saving. Approaching the library, visitors are immediately drawn to its minimalist architectural lines and transparent glass windows. A pedestrian bridge connects the entrance to the sidewalk. At the main entrance, you'll find an outdoor RFID self-service book return system resembling an ATM. This system allows readers to return books even during non-operating hours, offering great convenience. The library was built with an investment of over NT$100 million. The entire structure uses double-layered glass filled with special gas, ensuring bright lighting without glare or reflection that could affect indoor brightness. Upon entering the first-floor lobby, visitors are captivated by the high ceilings and spacious layout.
