Shaoguan Zhouqian Ancient Village | Encountering the Guangdong Version of Shaxi Ancient Town - Future Tense

Hidden in the northern part of Guangdong, Shaoguan, there are many secret treasure villages. Some may already be ruins, but they all have unique cultural stories. Today, I came to one of them, Zhouqian Ancient Village. When I arrived at Zhouqian Ancient Village, it seemed a bit quiet, but the ancient banyan trees in the village were still tall and straight, as if they were still telling the story of the bustling times. According to the introduction, during the Ming Dynasty, Zhouqian, due to the river passing through and its advantageous geographical location, was established by the officials as a military garrison, making it an excellent place for goods exchange (a small market). Therefore, it has a history of small commerce and trade, and was once prosperous. No wonder the opera stage and the distillery were both built in style. Looking back, this setting somewhat resembles the Shaxi Ancient Town in Yunnan. I believe that with further tourism development, it is not impossible for it to become the Guangdong version of Shaxi Ancient Town in the future.
