A Sweet New Gem at Guoco Midtown II: Chow Zan Dessert’s Traditional Treats

#springitinerary If you’re around the new Guoco Midtown II building near Bugis, there’s a fresh dessert spot worth checking out—Chow Zan Dessert just opened its doors at #01-19. Known among locals for a huge variety of traditional and modern Chinese desserts, this place feels like a sweet little oasis after a long day of exploring or working nearby. What I love about Chow Zan is how extensive their menu is. Whether you’re craving something warm and comforting or cool and refreshing, they pretty much have it covered. On the hot dessert side, classics like red bean with orange peel, black sesame paste, and yam paste with gingko are on the menu. These are the kind of desserts that remind you of home and are perfect when the weather turns a little chillier. If you’re more into cold treats, there’s plenty to choose from too. Think almond jelly with sea coconut and longan, grass jelly with mango, and their classic white chendol topped with red beans and attap seeds. For those who want to try something a little more special, their peach gum with white fungus soup or snow fungus red date collagen soup sounds both tasty and nourishing. And of course, durian lovers are not left out — Chow Zan offers delights like durian sticky rice, fried durian balls, and durian mochi, all made with Mao Shan Wang durian. Perfect for those who can’t get enough of that creamy, rich flavor. The shop’s hours are pretty convenient too, open from noon to 11pm on most days, and staying open later on weekends until 1:30am. So if you’re ever out late and want to satisfy a dessert craving, Chow Zan is a great late-night option. All in all, this new outlet brings a great range of Chinese dessert classics and some interesting twists to the Bugis area, making it a sweet stop you won’t want to miss. Whether it’s your first time trying these desserts or you’re a longtime fan, Chow Zan is definitely worth a visit.
